No. 1 Alabama survives; Florida wins 17th straight

Alabama's Mount Cody proved too big for Tennessee to kick over.

Terrence Cody, the Crimson Tide's 350-pound nose guard, blocked a 44-yard field-goal attempt on the final play, and host No. 1 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) escaped with a 12-10 victory over the rival Volunteers (3-4, 1-3) on Saturday.

Florida 29, Mississippi St. 19: Mississippi State (3-5, 1-3 SEC) stymied No. 2 Florida (7-0, 5-0) near the goal line all night, but Chris Rainey's 8-yard TD run and Dustin Doe's 23-yard interception return for a TD helped the visiting Gators extend the nation's longest winning streak to 17 games.

Texas 41, Missouri 7: Colt McCoy completed his first 11 passes and produced touchdowns on No. 3 Texas' (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) first three drives in a victory over host Missouri (4-3, 0-3).
