Art fair offers last chance to buy before snow flies

If you thought the art festival season was over, think again.

On Saturday, Oct, 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18, Amdur Productions will host the Inaugural Highwood Last Call Art Fair in downtown Highwood. The concept of the Last Call Art Fair is to offer guests the opportunity to purchase exceptional pieces of artwork at incredibly discounted, end-of-season prices.

"We are very excited to end the season with the Highwood Last Call Art Fair," says Amy Amdur, founder of Amdur Productions. "This new festival offers something for everyone! Art lovers will have the opportunity to find a piece they love at an incredibly affordable price while artists happily unload their inventory from the season."

Although the prices of artwork are different from the ones at previous festivals, the integrity and quality of the artwork remains the same, Amdur said.

Many of the artists who participated in Amdur's award-winning festivals throughout the season will return for this event. Artwork of all mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, photography, oil and watercolor paintings, will be represented at this fall fair.

The Highwood Last Call Art Fair also will pay homage to the city's long-standing reputation as a place for fine dining when it partners with Buffo's to host Oktoberfest. In addition to its usual offerings, Buffo's will offer fairgoers traditional German fare and beers from around the world at Buffo's Beer Garden & Grill.

Live music takes place at the fair all weekend long.

Families can enjoy activities such as art fair Bingo and an interactive art tent where kids can create their own masterpieces. Another family highlight is a pumpkin-decorating station. Kids can purchase a mini pumpkin and decorate it for inclusion on the City of Highwood's "Wall of 1,000 Pumpkins."
