ABC's schedule an example of losing 'Ugly'
At the last moment last week, ABC halted the return of "Ugly Betty" for no good reason. Now, however, they assure all "Betty" fans that she really will be back for a fourth season starting with a two-hour premiere at 7 p.m. today on WLS Channel 7. But if ABC is trying to cancel America Ferrera's endearing fashion series by moving it to a new night and alienating viewers with other scheduling snafus, it's off to a good start this fall.
Wolves back on air
After running their games exclusively on Comcast Cable the last few years, the minor-league-hockey Chicago Wolves have added a broadcast outlet this season, putting 15 games on WPWR Channel 50. Their game against Hamilton airs at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, on the local Fox-owned station.
Not that Delta house
The college high jinks at Delta house get a sex change from what takes place in "Animal House" when Courtney Thorne-Smith and Faith Ford star in the new Lifetime made-for-TV movie "Sorority Wars" at 8 p.m. Saturday. They're old Delta house sorority sisters thrown for a loop when Lucy Hale, as Thorne-Smith's daughter, rejects their legacy to pledge with the rival Kappas. Did somebody say, "Toga?"
Suburban mayhem
Joe Dante's "Gremlins" is a cautionary tale set in the suburbs, where the cute little title creatures get nasty and run amok when mixed with water and a late-night snack. Chris Columbus wrote the script - before he developed his addiction to treacle. It's at 8 p.m. today on WGN America.
