GOP picks three area women:

Three area women - Joyce Hundhausen of Carol Stream, Penny Falcon of Aurora and Pat Fee of Naperville - have been selected to help lead the state's GOP organization. They will take their posts Jan. 1 as executive officers of the Illinois Federation of Republican Women. Hundhausen is the district office manager for state Rep. Franco Coladipietro. Falcon is a board member for the Aurora Republican Women's Organization. Fee is a legislative aide for state Rep. Darlene Senger.

Photos depict Glen Ellyn:

Six photographs depicting Glen Ellyn scenes during the past three years are on display at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center. Taken by photographer Erik Peterson, the photos include two panoramic images showing the 2008 holiday tree-lighting and a scene from the 2009 Fourth of July parade. The other large canvas prints depict scenes of the woods, a bench, fireworks and the bathhouse at Lake Ellyn. The photos, which will remain up next year, are open for public viewing during village meetings.

Kids author in Bensenville:

Children's author Wendy Mass will spend Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Blackhawk Middle School, 250 S. Church Road, Bensenville, and make a public appearance at the Bensenville Public Library at 7 p.m. that day. Mass is the author of "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life," which was named a Junior Library Guild Premier Selection in 2006. Another of her books, "A Mango-Shaped Space," was awarded the 2004 Schneider Family Book Award by the American Library Association.

Historian speaking at AU:

Native American educator, author and historian Marjorie June Williams-Waheneka will discuss "A Traditional Woman in a Contemporary World" at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Schingoethe Center for Native American Cultures at Aurora University, 1400 Marseillaise Place. The presentation is free and open to the public. It's in conjunction with "Peoples of the Plateau," an exhibit of 51 photos of Native Americans taken by photographer Lee Moorhouse from 1898 to 1915.
