Man charged with stealing $15,000 from Villa Park ATMs

A 30-year-old Elmwood Park man has been charged with stealing more than $15,000 from two Villa Park automated teller machines using altered gift and debit cards.

Nikolay P. Todorov used machines at branches of First Bank and Inland Bank. He was arrested Thursday after a First Bank employee noticed Todorov behaving oddly, authorities said.

Villa Park police nabbed Todorov with more than 30 gift and debit cards that had been changed so they could be used to withdraw money from bank accounts held by someone else.

Todorov was formally charged with continuing a financial crimes enterprise, wire fraud and theft by deception. All the charges are felonies. He is being held at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
