Batavia looking for developers to take parcel off its hands

Batavia wants to sell land it owns at 137 N. Water St., and hopes somebody wants to develop it into multifamily housing, perhaps duplexes.

It is asking for proposals from developers for the site, which is a little larger than one-third of an acre. It is on the west side of Water, across from the Quarry Stone Pond condominiums.

The city bought it in 2000 to make way for the relocation of Water for Quarry Stone.

Proposals are due at 11 a.m. Nov. 25. The city would especially like housing, such as lofts, that might attract younger people, or something affordable for people working in service industries.

There are parking lots to the north and south of the parcel, and residences to the west.
