No charges in Algonquin school bus incident
Authorities will not charge the driver of the bus that rolled over the leg of a 7-year-old boy on Monday, according to Community Unit District 300. An Illinois State Police investigation determined there was nothing wrong with the bus or its brakes, but authorities still have not determined what caused the accident outside Algonquin's Neubert Elementary School, District 300 safety officer Gary Chester said. The boy, a second-grader at Neubert, was scheduled to have surgery on his injured leg Tuesday, Chester said. His injuries are not life-threatening. District 300 on Tuesday continued to provide additional counselors for students and staff at Neubert. "Many of their kids did witness the child under the bus," Chester said. "That was very traumatic for them."
