Give from garden and win a prize
Enjoy visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden? Grow some produce and enter your name in a drawing for a free garden membership.
Donors to the Daily Herald's Giving Garden program this year are eligible to receive one of 20 one-year free memberships to the expansive Glencoe gardens. Anyone who drops off a donation of fresh fruits and vegetables can pick up a receipt for their delivery, then mail that in to the Daily Herald.
We'll be selecting winners throughout the program - which ends Oct. 1 - and posting the names of the winners on The Great Tomato Experiment blog at www.dailyherald.com/givinggarden. A full list of drop-off sites is also available on the Web site.
The Giving Garden program urges gardeners to help channel fresh fruits and vegetables to more than 50 food pantries across five suburban counties. This year, the program's target is to collect 75,000 pounds of food by the end of the campaign.
To help give participants an idea of how each site is faring through the campaign, we're posting weekly tallies as we get them. You'll be able to check them out on the Web site as well. Once you're on the Giving Garden page, just look for the link to "Weekly Tallies."
