Dr. Thomas Phelan, author of the popular parenting book, "1-2-3 Magic," will present a parenting seminar at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Immanuel Lutheran School in the Family Life Center, 950 Hart Road in Batavia.
His entertaining presentation addresses the difficult task of child discipline with humor, keen insight and proven experience. Participants will also learn how to handle chores, practicing, homework messy rooms and lying.
Phelan, is an internationally renowned expert and lecturer on parenting and attention deficit disorder. A registered Ph.D. clinical psychologist, he appears frequently on radio and television.
Phelan and his wife of 35 years raised two children and experienced firsthand many of the problems he now helps parents tackle. "My goal is to help parents avoid some of the turmoil we experienced, and which I hear about from other parents every day," explains Phelan of his motivation. "With some basic understanding of what makes children and teenager tick - and a ton of patience - parenthood can provide some of life's greatest satisfactions."
