St. Alexius Medical Center plans to expand, renovate

Officials at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates have submitted a plan to the state health facilities and services review board for a major renovation and expansion.

The $117.4 million project is to include the existing plans for a new children's pavilion, as well as the conversion of almost all rooms to private, single-patient rooms - a move made by many area hospitals in the highly competitive suburban market.

The state board is scheduled to review the application at its March meeting.

The hospital is located at 1555 Barrington Road in Hoffman Estates and is part of Elk Grove Village-based Alexian Brothers Health System.
