Apple Festival returns to Long Grove

Long Grove will celebrate fall's bounty at the 17th Annual Apple Fest, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Oct. 2-4.

Savor the sweet crunch of an apple fresh off the tree. Select from an array of apple flavored goodies. Discover apple-themed gifts and home décor.

Long Grove's seven restaurants and many additional outdoor food booths will serve a wide array of delicious food and apple-inspired treats and drinks, including the Apple Haus' famous Brown Bag Apple Pie and cider doughnuts, apple martinis and desserts. Various shops and vendors will also sell fresh orchard-picked apples by the bushel.

Free live entertainment on five stages throughout the historic village will entertain festival goers.

Family activities, including kiddie rides, pony rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, face painting, and informational booths for children and their parents.

There are ice cream eating contest on Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday, there are Apple Dumpling Baby contests, Apple Blossom Princess pageants, Miss Apple Blossom Queen contests for girls, and Johnny Appleseed contests for boys, on Sunday.

Visitors to Long Grove will see more than 70 trendy shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants in a setting of historic buildings, cobblestone walks, colorful gardens and the landmark covered bridge.
