Downers Grove student charged in theft at Delaware college

NEWARK, Del. -- A University of Delaware student is charged with stealing a laptop from another college student during a party at the victim's home.

Newark Police say the victim confronted 19-year-old Amar Yakhou of Downers Grove. late Sunday night. He was allegedly carrying a laptop under his shirt and ran out of the home after the victim took the laptop away from him.

Police said the victim chased Yakhou down the street and checked to see if he had any more property that wasn't his. Then, police said, the victim took Yakhou's driver's license and called authorities.

Yakhou was arrested at his dorm in the Christiana Towers and charged with robbery, burglary and criminal mischief. He is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Facility.
