Health care plan so much snake oil
Now that the Congress failed to pass health care reform by the August Congress recess deadline originally established by the Obama administration, the President`s surrogates are left with the unenviable task of trying to defend his massive upheaval of the American health care system.
Like snake oil salesman they are foisted on the American people. Look at Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius in her recent opinion piece in The Washington Post.
Sebelius begins, "As the political debate about how to pay for and pass health reform grows louder and more contentious, we shouldn`t lose sight of the reason we`re even having this conversation: We have a huge, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve the lives of all Americans, insured and uninsured alike.
"Health insurance is fundamentally about peace of mind. If you have good insurance, you don`t have to worry about an accident or sudden illness. You know that whatever happens, you and your family will be taken care of."
If that doesn't sound like snake oil, I don't know what does. This "once-in-a- lifetime opportunity" also was tried in the Clinton administration. Health insurance is not about 'peace of mind' - it's about cost, one of those pesky little details that proponents of Obamacare are reluctant to talk about because it involves rationing health care.
The Obama shills act like Obamacare is the only way to fix the rising cost of health care. They have no interest in tort law reform, which would reduce doctors practicing "defensive medicine" by ordering unnecessary tests, or fixing the broken immigration system that adds to the ranks of the 47 million uninsured. Can't people understand that we are losing more and more individual freedom in this country every day?
