Ill. artists to perform at home of famous poet Vachel Lindsay

SPRINGFIELD -- Performances on classical guitar, mandolin and concertina will highlight a celebration of music and poetry at Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay's home in Springfield Sept. 26.

Bill Furry is executive director of the Illinois State Historical Society. He will perform music as part of the "Let Us be Bold with Our Songs" series at the famed poet's home -- a state historic site.

The Sept. 26 program is called "Prose Roses and Autumn Interludes: Fragrant Melodies from Vachel Lindsay's Landscape."

Two readers will recite works from the Lindsay family archives between musical performances.

Limited seating is available.

The home will feature a display of historic items from the Lindsay family collection.

Lindsay was a poet, author and artist who lived from 1879-1931.
