Princess Di's brother to visit Barrington store
Charles Spencer, brother of the late Princess of Wales, Diana, will visit Barrington next week to promote a line of furniture based on that of his family's 500-year-old estate, Althorp.
Spencer will meet and greet the public from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Honquest Furniture for Living, 1455 S. Barrington Road.
Spokeswoman Patricia Gerlach said questions about Diana herself will not be entertained during Spencer's appearance.
Honquest is one of the few stores in the Chicago area, and indeed the nation, that will be selling items from the 350-piece furniture collection called Althorp Living History.
Manufactured by Theodore Alexander, the collection is inspired by the actual furnishings at Althorp and a portion of its sales will be used to fund an extensive renovation of the 60,000-square-foot mansion.
Spencer will sign any Althorp pieces bought during his appearance at Honquest.
Spencer's U.S. tour is limited to eight cities and an appearance at the Merchandise Mart will be his only other in the Chicago area, Gerlach said.
