Retreating on treatment plans?

Caregivers should read president "I'm not thinking about THAT"' in his own words:

"Whether, sort of in the aggregate, society making those decisions to give my grandmother, or everybody else's aging grandparents or parents, a hip replacement when they're terminally ill is a sustainable model, is a very difficult question ... I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here." (Obama, to Leonhardt interview, Internet 4/28/09, in print 5/3/09).

"I just lost my grandmother last year. I know what it's like to watch somebody you love who's aging deteriorate, and have to struggle with that ... So the notion that somehow I ran for public office, or members of Congress are in this so they can go around pulling the plug on grandma? I mean, when you start making arguments like that, that's simply dishonest." (Obama to Montana town hall meeting 8/15/09).

Pretty clear to this reader he thought about society making health care decisions as a model BEFORE the election.

So, how do you think he and Rahmbo's bro, fellow backpeddler Dr. Zeke "the Terminator" Emanuel, intended to implement it? Dr. Zeke said Aug. 14 that he would still ration care in a few cases - will you be one?

And, if "life/death" decisions are in the clutches of government instead of free enterprise, who knows how subsequent bureaucrats will hold back treatment?
