Garbage, red-light cameras irk father
My daughter and I attended a great event at Fremd last Wednesday. Fremd defeated Conant in a lively and entertaining volleyball match. As we left, my daughter commented on all the garbage strewn about the exit of the school. Aside from the sheer number of wrappers, the quality of the snacks of choice was apalling. My daughter is 3 and not only throws her own garbage in the receptacle in public places but knows how to recycle at home as well.
As we drove home on the dark, rain-slicked roads we were startled by two bright flashes at the corner of Illinois and Plum Grove Roads. I figured that the flashes were from one of our ridiculously expensive "eye in the sky" red light monitors that had malfunctioned. Friday, I drove by again and the bright strobe was still firing at random. If we have to pay to fix these malfunctioning hazards, and they have not replaced any personnel or reduced our taxes, shouldn't we return them and get our millions of dollars back?
Our taxes will never go down if we have to pay someone to pick up garbage that is literally next to the receptacles at the entrances to our schools. As for the "blinding light," bad idea from the start and another example of citizens being taxed to pay for a system designed to take more money out of our pockets.
Congratulations to the girls from Fremd on an excellent season.
