1 charged in N. Aurora knife attack at Denny's

A 45-year-old man was being held in the Kane County jail Tuesday on charges he pulled a knife on a North Aurora restaurant manager, then ran from police.

Leonard D. Tocheck, of the 100 block of East Galena Boulevard, Aurora, is charged with felony aggravated fleeing and misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting police and disorderly conduct.

North Aurora Police Lt. Scott Buziecki said Tocheck threatened a manager at Denny's, 412 S. Lincoln Way, with a knife about 9:45 a.m. Monday for unknown reasons. No injuries were reported.

Buziecki said police caught up with Tocheck as he drove away from the restaurant, and a brief chase ensued before officers called it off for safety reasons. To check was arrested later Monday on the 900 block of South River Street in Aurora after police issued an alert with a description of his vehicle.

Tocheck, who has an Oct. 2 court date, remained in the county jail Tuesday, unable to post 10 percent of a $5,000 bond; there was no attorney listed for him in court files.
