More candidates running for lieutenant gov.

SPRINGFIELD -- Two more Illinois Republicans are getting into the race for lieutenant governor.

Edwardsville businessman Jason Plummer plans to announce his campaign Tuesday. Plummer works for his family lumber business and says that as lieutenant governor he would focus on economic development.

Orland Park resident Dennis Cook is launching his campaign on Thursday. Cook is president of a local high school board.

They face competition from at least two other Republican candidates.

A long list of Democrats are also seeking the nomination for lieutenant governor, a post that is vacant now.
