Sara Lee closer to selling unit
DOWNERS GROVE - Sara Lee Corp. has made progress toward a plan to sell its international household and body-care unit, Chief Executive Officer Brenda Barnes said. "We've had significant interest in the business and we have made significant progress on this," Barnes told analysts and investors in New York Wednesday. The company said in March it would explore strategic alternatives for the Utrecht, Netherlands-based unit, a $2.3 billion business that has about 8,000 employees. The maker of Sanex deodorant and Kiwi shoe polish may fetch $3 billion to $4 billion.
