Barrington Fire Dept. says 'welcome' to their house
The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District board of trustees invites residents to explore the inner workings of life in the fire service and catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse of department facilities, when the Barrington Fire Department hosts its 2009 Open House, 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The Open House will be held at the Barrington Public Safety Building, 400 N. Northwest Hwy. The event coincides with National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4-10.
Guests of all ages will have the opportunity to:
• Explore the department's fleet of engines, ambulances, trucks and tenders
• Learn more about the Barrington Fire Department's proud tradition of serving communities that comprise the BCFPD;
• Interact with fire department officials and district trustees;
• Receive fire, bicycle and railroad crossing safety information;
• Enjoy refreshments.
Barrington Fire Chief James Arie encourages district residents and business owners to attend the open house. They can meet with firefighters, view firefighting and emergency equipment and see how their tax dollars are used.
Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District residents get their emergency fire and medical service through the Barrington Fire Department, which protects the lives and property of district residents.
The district serves portions of Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Lake Barrington and Inverness; and unincorporated Cook, Lake and McHenry counties.
