East Dundee board supported flag

It isn't often that residents of a village write and pat their village boards on the back and say "Thanks." I have often been very critical of my village board, and I still am because I think they are not good stewards of our tax money; however, when they show concern for our traditional patriotic events and try to keep our American culture alive in a rapidly changing world, I believe they should be acknowledged. Therefore, I am writing to say "thank you" to our East Dundee Village Board for taking it on themselves to sponsor a Salute to our Flag on Flag Day.

And it behooves us all to look at the flag we fly and see that it is in good shape. Maybe it is time to obtain a new one. Our new immigrants are sometimes not aware of all of our traditions. This would be a good time to teach not only our own children and grandchildren but our neighbors as well about the value we place upon our flag.
