Woman injured in her car trying to avoid motorcylist on I-90
An emergency helicopter flew a Villa Park woman to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge after her vehicle spun across three lanes of traffic and rolled over on eastbound I-90 Monday while trying to avoid an erratic motorcyclist, Illinois State Police officials said.
Gillian Inperrante, 43, was heading eastbound on I-90 when a yellow motorcycle cut across two lanes of traffic and nearly hit her vehicle just east of Barrington Road near Hoffman Estates around 3:40 p.m., said Master Sgt. Paul Carlos of the Illinois State Police.
The woman swerved to avoid the motorcycle, Carlos said, and hit the northern retention wall. She then skidded across three lanes of traffic, went into the ditch, where the car flipped over.
The motorcyclist did not stop and police have no information about the driver, Carlos said.
Two passerby pulled the woman out of her vehicle after the crash, Hoffman Estates fire officials said. The emergency helicopter was called in and landed on a fairway at Hilldale Country Club while Hoffman Estates police blocked golfers from the area, officials said.
The woman is suffering from a fractured ankle, Carlos said, in addition to other minor injuries.
