Last year: Morgan Pressel became the youngest major champion in LPGA Tour history, winning at 18 years, 10 months, 9 days. Pressel played the final 24 holes without a bogey, finishing a final-round 69 with a 10-foot birdie putt. Suzann Pettersen, 4 strokes ahead with four holes to play, shot a 74 to finish a stroke back along with Catriona Matthew and Brittany Lincicome.
Last week: Lorena Ochoa successfully defended her Safeway International title for her second victory in two starts this year. The Mexican star finished at 22-under 266 at Superstition Mountain, 7 strokes ahead of Jee Young Lee and Minea Blomqvist.
Notes: Annika Sorenstam won the 2001, '02 and '05 tournaments. She has 70 LPGA Tour victories, including 10 majors. … The tournament, first played in 1972 as the Colgate Dinah Shore, became a major championship in 1983. … Michelle Wie, 124th in the world ranking, failed to qualify for the event.

Last year: Adam Scott held off 2006 winner Stuart Appleby in an all-Australian duel, saving par with a 50-foot putt on the 72nd hole after hitting his tee shot into the water. Scott shot a 6-under 66 to finish at 17 under, 3 strokes ahead of Appleby and third-round leader Bubba Watson.
Last week: Argentina's Andres Romero won the Zurich Classic in his 12th career PGA Tour start, closing with a 4-under 68 for a 1-stroke victory over Peter Lonard.
Notes: The Masters is next week. … Phil Mickelson is making his fourth appearance in the event. He missed the cut in 1995, tied for 30th in 1998 and tied for 28th in 2003. … Vijay Singh, the 2002, '04 and '05 winner, is taking the week off to prepare for the Masters.
