CFC recognized by local garden clubs

Citizens for Conservation would like to express its sincere thanks to the Council of Barrington Garden Clubs for the Integration of Native Materials award it presented to us.

Following the purchase of property along Route 22 in 2000, CFC volunteers have restored prairie at Flint Creek Savanna and planted native gardens around the office. It has taken many years of seeding, overseeding and planting plugs of more difficult-to-restore plants, but the prairie is finally assuming its historic shape.

We appreciate the Council of Barrington Garden Club's recognition of the importance of native plants as it enhances our mission of "Saving Living Space for Living Things." Our restoration and education efforts benefit greatly from both the recognition and the publicity regarding the use of native plants in the landscape.
