Man gets 28 years in crash that killed couple
EDWARDSVILLE -- Authorities say a man with a lengthy history of DUI arrests has received a 28-year prison sentence for a three-car crash that killed a Granite City couple and their unborn child.
Madison County State's Attorney William A. Mudge said Tuesday that his office had accepted a guilty plea from 57-year-old Donald W. Canterbery of Granite City to multiple counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
Police say Canterbery was driving his Corvette at about 150 mph moments before it rear-ended another car on Feb. 21. The occupants of that car, 24-year-old Lindsey Arnold-Zimmer and her 26-year-old husband, Adam Zimmer, both died in the crash. The driver and three passengers in a third car were also injured.
