Police arrest man who jumped off bridge to escape

BETTENDORF, Iowa -- Authorities say police in Bettendorf arrested a Moline man after he jumped off the I-74 bridge into the Mississippi River.

Bettendorf Police Lt. Warren Beine says rescue crews found 27-year-old Brian Moore after about a half-hour search Monday night. Beine says Moore was hiding in the water directly under the center of the bridge.

Beine says Moore was wanted as a suspect in a gas station robbery late Monday afternoon, and jumped off the bridge as an officer approached him on the bridge and tried unsuccessfully to subdue him with a Taser.
