Police seek man who approached kids at N. Aurora park
North Aurora police are looking to question a man regarding a suspicious incident at Pinecreek Park Wednesday.
As of late Thursday afternoon, no suspect had been identified, nor had any arrests been made.
Officials said in a news release that four children between the ages of 9 and 12 were playing at 5:18 p.m. on the playground in Pinecreek Park, at the corner of Pinecreek Drive and Butterfield Road, when an unidentified male pulled along the curb in a vehicle and yelled for the kids to come over and help him find something.
Officials said the kids ran in the opposite direction and the male never exited his vehicle. The driver left the area northbound on Pinecreek.
The male was described as a white male in his 20s or 30s with dark brown hair. He was driving a minivan or sport utility vehicle described as a light silver or light blue in color.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description given. No sketch of the man has been posted, and a West Aurora District 129 official was not sure if any of its schools in North Aurora had sent warnings to parents.
North Aurora police advised adults that, even when legitimately seeking help or directions, they should not approach children for help, but instead speak to another adult.
Anyone who has information regarding the identity of the man should contact North Aurora Police at (630) 897-8705.
