Man approaches Geneva kids at bus stop

Police are looking for a man who approached two girls around 7:45 a.m. Thursday near Jefferson and Garfield streets on Geneva's east side, about three blocks away from Harrison Street Elementary School.

The two, ages 12 and 14, were walking to a bus stop when a man in a pickup truck called out to them and asked them to approach his truck, they told police. The girls refused, and called their parents on a cell phone for help, according to police.

The man is described as between 30 and 35, with blond hair. The truck was a red, older-model Chevrolet S-10, with a side step and an extended cab. It was last seen heading south on Garfield, then east on State Street.

Geneva police are investigating whether the incident is connected to one that happened Sept. 16 at Pinecreek Park in North Aurora. In that case, four children said they were approached by a brown-haired man in his 20s or 30s, driving a minivan or sport utility vehicle.

If you have information, call the Geneva police at (630) 232-7436.
