Cubs will still lose with selfish players

The Cubs will never win anything as long as they continually acquire players who put themselves above the team, and Cub management sees nothing wrong with this. In fact, Cub management condones it. The other players see that this is tolerated and it lowers morale on the team.

On this year's team it's Zambrano and Milton Bradley. Not too long ago, Sosa was another great example of this nonsense. Sosa referred to the Cubs as "his team". It was "his clubhouse" and the entire team had to listen to his boom box blaring "his music" every day. He was notorious for showing up a week later than everyone else for spring training - just to remind everyone of his status as the team "superstar."

This behavior is just ridiculous, especially considering the unimaginable millions these players get paid per year. And what's with the idiots on the team showing their immaturity by destroying the Gatorade jug or water cooler? They look foolish and unprofessional. How about Ted Lilly giving up a home run in the playoffs two years ago and whipping his glove to the ground like a Little Leaguer? Laughable.

Every time $18 Million Dollar Man Soriano drops a routine flyball, don't you think the other "underpaid" teammates of his wonder just how much more they must be worth?

The Cubs will continue to lose until they start acquiring players with character and quit putting so much emphasis on statistics which are often overrated and misleading. How often do we see players pad their stats before a free agent year so they can cash in on multiyear contracts worth millions? That's usually when the Cubs acquire them and we, the fans, get to watch their performance and careers decline.
