Kids eat free at Francesca's Campagna

Francesca's Campagna in West Dundee is currently offering kids, ages 12 and under, a free dinner from its children's menu every Sunday evening with each paying adult. Youngsters can choose from chicken, pizza or pasta dishes, served with a soft drink, milk or juice. A scoop of gelato for dessert tops off the meal.

Take a bite

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, National Chicken Month officially begins. And Birch River Grill in Arlington Heights is joining the celebration with its new BRG Bites, mini sandwiches filled with gourmet ingredients. Cordon Bleu, Buffalo Chicken and Mediterranean Chicken are the featured BRG Bites choices. The bites are served with either French fries or sweet potato fries.

Tomato, to-mah-to

Carlucci of Downers Grove is offering its summer Tomato Fest menu, featuring tomato dishes, through Monday, Aug. 31. Fare includes a marinated summer tomato and yellow bean salad, a fresh tomato tart with a basil-garlic crust, chilled gazpacho, fried green tomatoes and an heirloom tomato, peach and plum crisp with basil ice cream and a pine nut-almond topping.
