Aurora man shot to death; struggle preceded shooting

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 36-year-old Aurora man late Wednesday on the city's far east side.

Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said officers responded to the 1100 block of Brunswick Lane at 11:30 p.m. after callers reported shots were fired.

Police found Gregory L. Riley of the 0-99 block of South Stolp Avenue sprawled in the road outside his parked car. He had been shot multiple times, Ferrelli said.

The preliminary investigation indicates there was a struggle before the shooting. A person of unknown race and gender was seen fleeing south on foot shortly after the shots were fired, Ferrelli said.

Riley was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:18 a.m.

A motive in the shooting has yet to be established, Ferrelli said.
