Take the Points wins Grade I Secretariat Stakes at Arlington

Take the Points overtook Black Bear Island in the final strides to win the Grade I Secretariat Stakes by a head Saturday at Arlington Park.

Black Bear Island (7-2), ridden by John Murtagh, stalked pacesetter Hoosier Kingdom throughout before taking the lead heading into the stretch. But Take the Points (5-2), with Kent Desormeax aboard, went to the front with Black Bear Island and the pair battled side-by-side through the stretch before Take the Points pulled ahead
