SciTech adds new exhibit:
"Dorothy," the famous storm-chasing truck, is about to become the centerpiece of a new weather exhibit to open in late October at the SciTech Hands On Science Center in Aurora. The truck's owner, Eddie Weiss, will turn it over to Executive Director Shawn Carlson in ceremonies at 1 p.m. today outside the museum at 18 W. Benton. The 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer has been the lead chase vehicle for Weiss's Chasing4Life organization and includes onboard weather monitoring equipment as well as video equipment that allows the driver to upload to television newsrooms. It has appeared with Weiss on hundreds of television broadcasts.
Stories at park:
Enjoy a night of songs, skits and stories by Andy Talley at the grand opening of George's Circle from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Peck Farm Park in Geneva. Reservations are required. Cost is $20 for resident families, $30 for others. The circle is an amphitheater built from stone from a barn on the site. Call Jennifer Schmidt at (630) 262-8244.
Mothers club invite:

Troopers plan crackdown:
The Illinois State Police will conduct special patrols starting Friday through Sept. 7 to crack down on drunken driving in DuPage, Cook, Kane, Will and McHenry counties. Police say they will use the patrols to find impaired motorists.
Registration for soccer:
The Tri-Cities Soccer Association is accepting registrationsfor its fall season. Games are played outdoors on Saturdays Sept. 12 to Nov. 7. The league is open to those 5 to 19. Fees are $75 per player for the fall season or $120 for annual prepay (fall and spring). Register online at tcsa.net or call (630) 377-1101 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Arts panel needs help:
The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission has an opening on its nine-member board. It meets the first Thursday of each month and sponsors cultural art programs. Interested people must live in Geneva and understand budget process and procedures. An application is available at geneva.il.us. Include a cover letter with a summary of skills and interests.
