Kildeer police chief quits after 9 years
Longtime Kildeer Police Chief Jeffrey Lilly has left the position he has held for the last nine years, village officials confirmed.
Kildeer Village Administrator Michael Talbett said Lilly advised the village board on Tuesday he will be entering retirement effective immediately.
Talbett said officials discussed the change in executive session during a village board meeting Tuesday night, and that he could not comment on the reason for the immediate change.
"The village does not comment on personnel issues," he said. "But, we wish the chief well in whatever he does next."
Lilly, who has been with the police department since 1986, was making just over $99,000 annually, Talbett said.
Talbett added Lilly will receive four months salary per the severance package signed with the village.
Talbett said Cmdr. Robert Zujewski has been named interim police chief by the village board, and the board intends to decide in the coming weeks whether to promote a new chief from within the current ranks or hire someone from the outside to run the department.
