Eastern Ill. firefighter jailed in vehicle fire
CHAMPAIGN -- Champaign police have arrested a city firefighter on suspicion of setting fire to her own vehicle and one belonging to a colleague.
Champaign Fire Chief Doug Forsman says 50-year-old Monica Hall of nearby Mahomet was arrested Friday after the fire early that morning.
Forsman says firefighters found the two vehicles on fire in the employee parking lot at the city's main fire station.
Forsman says Hall has been placed on administrative leave. She is the department's only female firefighter and has worked for the agency since 2003.
Hall has not been formally charged and is scheduled to make her initial court appearance Friday. She has not yet been assigned counsel. A telephone number could not be located for Hall.
