Heavy rains clogging traffic throughout the suburbs

The morning rain is causing commuting headaches on all major highways, traffic officials are reporting Wednesday morning.

And, at the same time, weather officials said people should get used to the rain for the next couple of days.

Delays are massive on all major tollways as I-90, I-55 and I-94 are all reporting heavy backups Wednesday morning.

Weather related accidents have been reported in Round Lake Park and Gilberts, officials said.

Most delays seem to be caused by heavy rain causing low visibility conditions, and standing water on pavements throughout the coverage area.

Metra officials are also reporting that the Milwaukee District West Line 2201 is running about 15 minutes behind schedule.

Officials from the National Weather Service said the rain will last through the morning before clearing up for a couple of hours around 11 a.m. But, the clouds will return Wednesday afternoon and continue through Friday morning.
