Local every day, everywhere

Kudos to Daily Herald editor Jim Slusher for his excellent column of Aug. 6.

I'll make a suggestion regarding a slogan for the Daily Herald - retain the present quote of founder H.C. Paddock as is, then somehow add those words: local, every day, everywhere; leaving to your expertise font size, quote, date, etc. You can work that out.

In the spirit of constructive criticism, is it possible to include news from other wire services with a conservative slant to counter the left-slanted Associated Press? The AP seem to smother most area newspapers in the area, indeed even nationally. Just asking.

Seems legalizing marijuana is always in the news these days. The Daily Herald on July 31 printed a lengthy column on the subject by Froma Harrop of Providence Journal Co. In the same issue on another page was your story of the fatal accident caused by a trucker high on pot. Those articles were not paradoxical. They illustrate direct cause and effect - horrifying marijuana.

Keep up your good work of printing the news fairly and objectively.
