Aurora woman remains hospitalized with gunshot wound

A 73-year-old Aurora woman remained hospitalized Tuesday with a bullet wound after apparently being hit by stray gunfire Monday night while she was in her house on the 1100 block of Ohio Court.

Police said the woman was struck in the abdomen about 8:20 p.m. during an exchange of multiple gunshots behind the homes on her block.

One of the bullets pierced a wall in the woman's home and struck her as she walked down a hallway. She was taken to an Aurora hospital where her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Three additional homes on the same block were hit by gunshots but there were no additional injuries.

Police do not yet know if the shots were fired by someone on foot or in a vehicle.
