One hurt in downtown St. Charles crash
A motorcycle driver was hospitalized Tuesday after several vehicles were involved in a crash near downtown St. Charles, police said.
The man, whose name was not available, was being treated for a leg injury that did not appear to be life threatening, Sgt. Brad Griffin said.
The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. as a car waited to turn left onto North Ninth Avenue from eastbound Route 64. Police said one, possibly two, motorcycles waiting behind the car were rear-ended by a fourth vehicle when it was struck by a flatbed tow truck also traveling east.
Griffin said one male motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital; neither his female passenger nor the male driver of the other motorcycle was seriously hurt.
The accident caused eastbound traffic to back up, although both outer lanes of Route 64 remained open. Griffin said the crash was under investigation, and citations are likely to be issued.
Further details were not immediately available.
