Celebrate what Christmas means
For many years, Christmas was celebrated as the birth of Christ.
In recent years, it has become commercial and is celebrated more with Santa, holiday songs, decorations lighting up houses, government buildings, commercial buildings, parks, etc.
There is nothing wrong with this, but people should not forget that Christmas is the birth of Christ our savior.
Rather than decorate elaborately on Christ's birthday, people who are not Christians should celebrate at another time of year.
Not allowing school children to sing Christmas carols or have nativity programs, but to have holiday programs and holiday parties is not separating church and state. It is stated freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.
It is wonderful to have our children learn about other religions, cultures, customs, etc., but they should also learn the true meaning of Christmas through traditional Christmas carols.
Why do others feel so threatened by this? It is not an attempt to convert everyone to Christianity, but an opportunity to hear beautiful music composed by great composers.
If there was ever a time to praise God, it is now. We must bring God back into our country. He has been gone too long.
