Library's disposal of books shameful
Shakespeare, T.S. Eliot and loads of other books headed for the garbage graveyard?
First trees, now books. Dundee Township had no sooner downed scores of trees "to spread topsoil" when Dundee Township Library decided to load two gigantic blue garbage bins with unwanted books.
This disposal-for-the-sake-of-expediency is wrong. Excuses such as "weeding," "time constraints," "remodeling" and "lack of volunteers" don't cut it. The books should have been distributed to any number of facilities or organizations that would have been happy to receive them.
Horrified residents of all ages dug in in an attempt to box, keep or distribute the sorry castaways - a commendable commentary on right vs. wrong, at any rate.
One rescued item, a children's book, was titled "There's a Party at Mona's."
Only if things improve.
