Plainfield soldier found dead at Ft. Bragg
FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Officials with the 82nd Airborne Division say a Fort Bragg soldier has died after he was found unresponsive in his barracks room.
Sgt. Jeffrey A. Van Us of Plainfield, died Friday morning. The cause of death is under investigation. His father, Dan Van Us, said in published reports that he still doesn't know what killed his son.
The 26-year-old Van Us was a senior vehicle mechanic and assigned to the 307th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team. The brigade is preparing to deploy to Iraq later this month.
Van Us joined the Army in November 2002 and joined the 82nd in March 2008.
