Dense fog slows area traffic, advisory issued
A dense fog advisory has been issued this morning by the National Weather Service.
Fog has been reported in spots throughout the area including Wheaton, Waukegan and Aurora.
Areas of dense fog will continue for a few hours after sunrise this morning, with visibility varying widely from one place to another, according to the weather service. Visibility may be near zero in some rural areas to several miles in urban areas. The fog will reduce visibility to less than one quarter mile.
The fog should lift by 8 a.m., when the advisory is scheduled to expire.
The weather will change during the next few days. Today will be hot and humid before a cool front comes in by tonight.
"This week, the highs will be in the lower 80s through Wednesday and Thursday," said Bill Nelson of the National Weather Service. He said a heat wave will arrive by Saturday. Temperatures over the weekend will be in the low to mid-90s, he added.
