Downstate town reports $10 mil in tornado damage

WILLIAMSVILLE -- Officials in the small community of Williamsville estimate about $10 million of damage after a tornado hit last week.

The community is about 10 miles northeast of Springfield has around 1,400 people.

Williamsville Village President Thomas Yokley says the community is better shape after a clean-up program and another could be scheduled in the coming days.

At least two tornados struck central Illinois last week. Williamsville was hit the hardest.

Authorities say dozens of 25 village buildings were damaged and there were around a dozen injuries, though none life-threatening.
