Royalty crowned in Lindenhurst

The village of Lindenhurst is three times prettier after crowning the new queens during Lindenfest Thursday night.

Anna Bauschke, 17, Kate Hohenstatt, 13, and Emma Lively, 6, are the new Miss, Junior Miss and Little Miss Lindenhurst winners.

Bauschke is a repeat winner. She was crowned Little Miss Lindenhurst in 1998. A senior at Grayslake North High School, she hopes to study psychology or forensic science after graduation. She is the flute section leader in the high school's marching band and works at Bill's Pub in her free time.

Hohenstatt is a veteran queen as well. She was crowned Little Miss Lindenhurst in 2003. An eighth grader at Palombi Middle School, she plays softball, basketball and iceless hockey. Hohenstatt is not only athletic, she's a member of the National Junior Honor Society as well.

Her first year in the pageant, Lively said she entered because she though it would be fun and a chance to help others, pageant officials said. A first grader at B.J. Hooper school, she plays T-ball and is a cheerleader for the Lake Villa Timberwolves.

Lindenfest continues through Sunday.

Events include a carnival, food and retail booths, live entertainment, and a bingo tent. A parade is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the theme "Enchantment Under the Sea."

The fest takes place on the village hall grounds, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road. Hours are noon to midnight Saturday, Aug. 15; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16
