Hersey splits at Pekin
Hersey's boys basketball team started Tuesday with a big finish in a 54-31 win over Lake Zurich in the consolation bracket of the 45th annual Pekin Holiday Tournament.
But the Huskies (6-6) had a quiet ending in their evening game as Normal West used an 11-point run in the final 4:20 for a 57-48 comeback victory.
Hersey will play Thornridge for 11th place at 2 p.m. today.
In Hersey's first game it outscored Lake Zurich 21-4 in the fourth quarter. Justin Jobski had 13 points to lead a balanced attack.
Connor Miklasz scored his 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting from 3-point range, Tom Sutrinaitis scored 10 points and Vuk Vukovic added 8 points.
Vukovic had 10 points and Sutrinaitis added 9 points to lead the Huskies in their loss to Normal West.
