Aurora woman charged with battery

Aurora police say several anonymous tips helped them nab a 20-year-old woman wanted for shoving and injuring a 61-year-old security guard after he tried to stop her from shoplifting.

Police said information gathered through Aurora Area Crime Stoppers led them to Marilyn A. Glover of the 400 block of North River Street. She was arrested Monday night during a traffic stop after being charged the previous week with battery and retail theft, both misdemeanors.

Detectives said Glover tried to steal $75 worth of liquor on May 1 from the Dominick's grocery store at 3025 East New York St. on the city's far east side.

When the security guard confronted her she allegedly shoved him to the ground and then fled.

Police released images from the store's security system on May 26 and asked the public to help identify the woman. Crime Stoppers received several tips identifying the woman as Glover.

That information helped detectives formulate additional leads that led to a warrant for her arrest.

Glover is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Aurora Police Department.
