'Win-win' really isn't, for residents

In a recent letter to the editor, Susan Garrett sure puts an interesting spin on raising taxes. She believes it is a "win-win for everyone in Lake County".

The first win is the quarter percent sales tax increase that is going to fund the CTA. Less than 2 percent of Lake County residents use mass transit yet we are paying the same as Chicago residents.

Susan Garrett forgot to mention that some of our money is even going to fund mass transit in other Illinois cities like Springfield even though they are not paying a dime of this sales tax. I guess that is her definition of bipartisan.

The second win is the quarter percent sales tax increase that is going to Lake County for roads. This is the same sales tax increase defeated twice by Lake County voters. Obviously, the word "no" means nothing to Susan Garrett and the rest of the legislators who voted for this sales tax hike.

If there are many more wins from the Lake County democrats we will no longer be able to afford to live in Lake County!
