Get one right before tackling health care

The government has been running agencies like the U.S. Postal Service, the department of motor vehicles and the Internal Revenue Service for decades. These would be the government agencies most citizens are use to dealing with on a regular basis.

I waited in line and went through three layers of management over a two-hour period trying to get a business-related question answered at the post office. Never did get an answer.

You can tell when someone is going to the DMV as it starts with a heavy exhale. The IRS is similar.

The government has been in control of these facilities since their inception and none are exactly bastions of efficiency. All could use massive improvement in many areas starting with customer service as well as things like organization and cost savings.

I never hear politician talking about these agencies, instead we now hear how the government has got to get involved with high finance and the mortgage industry. They need to take over and help run the automobile companies and totally overhaul and run the entire health care industry. As of late politicians seem surprised at the uprising of disenchanted citizens at their town hall meetings.

Politicians are big on handing out advice, especially liberal politicians who seem to think they are the smartest people in the room and know what is best for everyone. Well how about some advice from just another guy in the room?

Try fixing, or at least improving the things you have been in charge of for the last several decades. If you can show some substantial changes for the better there perhaps you will find a more cooperative mob when you announce your plans to take over and run other industries we all must deal with.
